The opioid crisis that our world, our nation, and our communities are facing is incredibly devastating. Families are torn apart and lives ruined by something as simple as a pain pill. To me, this beckons the question: Is our pain emotional, intellectual, physical, or spiritual? The United States only makes up five percent of the world’s population, but we consume 80 percent of the world’s pain medication. Is it all back pain, or is it something greater? We’ll discuss why opioids are so addictive in nature and the risk factors associated with their consumption.
