After the Washington Post reported on students experiencing racism at the Virginia Military Institute, Governor Ralph Northam ordered an investigation into the culture at VMI. Since then, VMI's superintendent was pressured to resign and its Board of Visitors voted to remove a statue of Confederate Gen. Stonewall Jackson.
