Heart failure is the important cause for mortality in cardiac abnormalities. Ischemic heart disease is the important reason for heart failure, characterized by ventricular remodeling. Pathological compensatory mechanisms such as renin-angiotensin-aldosterone-system, and activation of sympathetic nervous system are the contributing factors for hypertrophy of heart. This presentation highlights the classification of drugs used in congestive heart failure, their mechanism of action, adverse effects, and drug interactions.
