In recent years, July in Australia has become the arid wasteland for tens of thousands of drinkers as they undertake the Dry July campaign, a 31 day stretch where they raise funds to support cancer sufferers by saying no to alcohol consumption. It is an honorable ideal for an excellent cause.
Why then, supposedly flying in the face of this, have I set out some years ago to go in an opposite direction, and have my own campaign called the 31 Days of Scotch, where I indeed extoll having a drink a day through the same long stretch of days? Well the answers to all of your questions can be found on today's podcast episode, the first of Season 7 of this podcast, where even the most banal of ideals can find a way to be discussed, right here on Thoughts from the Metal Cavern.
