According to Snopes.com food tasters are a concept long associated with important personages such as political leaders and business tycoons. The most common image of a food taster is someone who serves as a guinea pig for hisemployer, sampling meals before they are served to ensure that no one has tampered with them (particularly by introducing poison or some other harmful substance).

Now that Lord Albert Shaw is the regent of his land and Duke of Gloommeadow you'd figure he would start acting the role. Invited to an honorary banquet in celebration of solving the mystery of ghastly abductions, we rest in, drop our guard and armor, and nuzzle up to Esmond Wright. Mr. Wright, a council member in Haven, means to do us wrong.
