Mary was a young lady, and she was engaged to be married. In this season of Mary’s life, there was so much anticipation. Then, out of nowhere, a messenger from God shows up and absolutely turns her plans upside down. As the angel delivered the message from God that Mary would carry and deliver Jesus, the relationship between God’s promises and your obedience is seen. At the time of her being deeply troubled by the angel’s appearance, you too can be reminded of the angel’s words that, as a child of God, you are favored by God; God is with you; do not be afraid. Similarly, there are things that God is going to call you to do in life that are going to be troubling for you because of how impossible it seems, but be reminded that nothing is impossible with God. Like Mary, we must exercise faith over fear. We must surrender and make ourselves available to Him. When we do, we see God use your yes as an opportunity for others to say yes to Him.
