In this episode, I analyse different standards of English through media, mainly The Office UK and Modern Family. I reflect on pronunciation features such as rhythm, connected speech, and sound variation, while also discussing how accent can shape identity, humour, and characterisation. This podcast explores the idea that English is not one fixed standard, but a language with many valid forms and voices.

I talk about teaching phonics through the short a sound, storytelling with The Fox and the Crow, reciting a personal poem, singing When We’re High by LP, and exploring World Englishes through media. This podcast focuses on how these activities can support language learning in a more creative, expressive, and meaningful way.
