Mississippi native, Albert E. Smith Jr. grew up in a small town outside of Natchez. At the age of 13, he began attending Piney Woods Boarding School, one of the three remaining Black boarding schools in the nation. Albert Earnest Smith, Jr.’s passion for justice and equality sits in the nexus of academia, community development, public policy and grass-root activism. Albert moves continuously between polar worlds bridging, linking and mediating between groups and persons of varying cultural backgrounds.
