He became the first King of Judah, the southern kingdom, and played a pivotal role in this historical divide. He started his reign when he was 41 and reigned for 17 years. He bragged about being more oppressive than his father. He was strong willed, efficient, strategic and charismatic. He was also blunt/dominant, intolerant, arrogant, and likely resentful and angry. He may be most known for espousing that his pinky finger “shall be thicker” than his “father’s loins” (2 Chr 10:10).
