He was the first king that took away altars, broke down images, cut down groves, and commanded that Judah needed to seek the Lord. He dethroned his mother/grandmother who was an idol worshipper. In his old age, he became diseased in his feet and did not seek the Lord. The kingdom had peace for many years with Asa as the king. Asa was principled, humble toward God (until the last few years of his life). He took his job seriously and was not afraid to stand up for the truth.
