This week’s episode proved to be one of our most difficult for us. The complexities, layers, and perspectives surrounding a person’s mental illness and suicide are endless. We struggled to tell this story of Michelle Carter and Conrad Roy. You may have heard about this case as the girlfriend who pushed her boyfriend to complete suicide. While that is a part of the story, it isn’t the entire story. 

We tell you every week that we are Unqualified Therapists and for this episode we are just as unqualified with the law. That isn’t what this episode is about. This is the story of a tragedy, as much of it as can be told from what we know. Even after pouring over thousands of text messages between the two of them, we will never know everything that was going on in the minds of these two teenagers.

It is still important for pieces of the story to be told and to shed light on the gray world of mental illness.
