The UK left the EU on 31 January 2020, which kicked off the 11 month transition period. During this time, the UK remains part of the EU Customs Union and the single market. In other words, nothing changes - for now. The idea behind the transition period was for both parties to secure a trade agreement and a new partnership. After several rounds of negotiations, no significant progress has been made. Regardless of the lack of progress on a political level, businesses should be prepared to trade with the UK under new rules as of 1 January 2021.
