You know that one friend or that group of fans that’ll emulate and defend a celebrity no matter what they do? Today we talk about celebrity devotion or hardcore “stans”. Stans and stan communities provide really interesting takes on sociology and anthropology, from humans’ needs for community and connection to just how hard they fight to preserve it and the lengths they’ll go to copy their role model. We talk about some of the research we did and the effects celebrity devotion can have, both positive and negative.
