Evan Greene is a partner in 3 Emerald Marketing, a data-based strategic consultancy driving innovation in the passion-fueled areas of music, sports and entertainment. He also serves as Chief Business Officer for VRM & The ARIA Network. Greene was previously CMO of the Recording Academy, where he launched and then led the marketing department for 16 years, building the GRAMMYs into one of the world’s most recognized and coveted brands.

Many people who have the opportunity to move on with their careers end up holding back because there is that fear of losing their sense of job security. But at the end of the day, the choice is in your hands. It takes some level of self-awareness to figure out what options and paths you need to take. It also takes courage to get rid of that safety net and rely on your experience, expertise, relationships, and success to see what you can build out of yourself.
What some people might see as a roll of the dice, think of it as a leap of faith that allows you to explore and evaluate different opportunities that otherwise never would have been in front of you. You’re opening up pathways that you least expect. It’s not a linear progression. It's almost like being in a sandbox, you can build whatever sandcastle you want and then you can build another one next to it.
It’s very important to listen to your inner voice and follow your passion because you don’t want to live the rest of your life wondering what if.
The Power of a Support System Through Your Reinvention Moments
We are the sum total of the relationships that we build, cultivate, and cherish. Get some ideas from people you trust and bounce some things off of them. Be open to critical feedback and use it as your guidepost so you can focus on where you want to go as well as understand the landscape you're stepping into.
