    Why Podcasting Isn’t for Everybody

    While there has been an increase in the number of podcasts during the pandemic, we are now starting to see a downward shift because people have realized it takes more than just a mic to do it – successfully.

    If your goal is to reach an audience and deliver a message, it has to go beyond that. It has to be more than just recording into your phone. Especially with the influx of corporate media, every media outlet now has a podcast, and they're all professionally produced, edited, and audio-engineered. Therefore, you have to create that experience where people look forward to listening to it. Unfortunately, those days of grabbing your phone, recording an episode, and calling it a podcast are all gone.

    What It Takes to Launch a Successful Podcast

    First, understand why you’re starting a podcast. What is your goal for the podcast? How do you provide a great listening experience to your audience? If your goal is to connect with your clients, create a listening experience to make sure you draw the listener. At the basic level, you need these critical elements: microphone, recording device, podcast host, media, and distribution.

    Once you have determined your goal, identify your listener, which allows you to customize the marketing plan for your show. If you have a business show, you may lean towards LinkedIn for most of your marketing efforts. If you're targeting the younger generation, you may think about TikTok or Instagram reels.
