Start times and Segments:

[0:00:35] What’s On Your Mind: Elise noticed something intriguing about buddhist temples when she backpacked through Asia – many include outdoor spaces, flora and fauna on the spiritual sites.

[0:0 9:30Expanding Minds Interview: [Balance] We enjoy hearing from people about the activities they balance at different ages and stages in their lives. We interview Hooriya Rizwan, a second-year university student. In addition to full-time studies, Hooriya has multiple jobs, she’s a full-time club member with a pre-law women’s group, she does volunteer work for that club, and separate volunteer work at a women’s center, she trains volunteers and she performs research for a professor. She sees it as being supportive of the younger version of herself, who did not know she could be at the position she’s at right now and that she’s capable of managing all these things, and having good grades, and having a solid plan for what she wants to do in the future.

[0:23:37] Adventures of the Starving Artist: Cameron had a rough few weeks in combat with a bout of depression. The news world is a big part of it. He’s feeling the weight of the world is hitting him. He’s feeling for Ukraine (war), Ohio (train derailment with contamination), Turkey (earthquake), and U.S. (multiple mass shootings). Everywhere he looks it seems like things are bad. His strategies he employs don’t seem to be helping the way they often do.

[0:28:23] Move That Body: We start a series of Let’s Be Well Together etiquette rules for the gym – using in a gym in a way to help each other.

[0:34:31] Running Popup: John explains why we have the word “together” in the title Let’s Be Well Together.

[0:36:19] Flipside of the Coin: We came across a great article about what keeps us up when we look at our phones before bed or during the night.

Guest Information: Hooriya Rizwan, is a second-year Legal Studies student with a minor in Communication at the University of Waterloo. She currently works two jobs, one where she teaches kids soccer and the other as an Undergraduate Research Assistant for Professor Naila Keleta-Mae for her Black and Free project. Hooriya volunteers at the Women Center in a Marketing role and WomenInPreLaw as a social media research assistant. During November and December last year, she had three jobs which she balanced while being in a club, studying full-time and volunteering at a Daycare. She plans to attend law school and become a family lawyer specializing in divorce and/or adoption.
