On this episode of the COGO Podcast, R.W. Moody sits down with Pastor Steve Anthony and ministry leaders Amy Thomas and Tricia Lantz from Hilltop Church of God. Together they explore how God is using ordinary believers to make an extraordinary impact in Columbus. Steve shares his personal journey of answering God’s call to ministry before fully surrendering to it as a young adult. Amy and Tricia reflect on the faith foundations that shaped them and the importance of owning their walk with Christ beyond simply attending church.
The heart of the conversation centers on “Shining Stars,” a survivor-founded outreach serving women living on the streets. What began in 2014 as two women distributing toiletries has grown into a weekly, mobile ministry. “Shining Stars” provides hygiene bags, clothing, meals, resource connections, and offers dignity with compassion. Meeting women exactly where they are, the team demonstrates what disciple-making looks like outside church walls: practical service, consistent presence, and Christ-centered love in action. This episode will challenge and encourage leaders to rethink outreach and consider how their churches can become disciple-making movements in their own communities.
