Tom Meets Interesting People

E08: Dr Federico Farini: Spaces, History and Love Island

Listen Later

How can we make spaces work for the people who use them? How is history used as a tool to suit power? I met Dr Federico Farini, and we talked about how we could rethink how we plan and use spaces and his research project ChildUp! And SpaceX. We even manage to talk about Love Island and the sociological implications that have.

Dr Farini leads the Centre for Psychological and Sociological Sciences at the University of Northampton. Federico takes pride in their commitment to a positive impact on communities that characterises his research and teaching. Working with European and national Agencies and regional and Local Authorities, his research concerns the inclusion of migrant children and young people in education, youth subcultures and cultural studies, migrant-friendly services, conflict management, intercultural education, client-centred interpreting in healthcare and education, and the role of digital media in the diffusion of knowledge.
