I’ve got a magic trick for you: how to tell someone what you do without being there? Video Bios, also known as en elevator pitch or profile video.
These short videos give your clients a glimpse into the kind of person you are.
Who:
- People who are selling things (Including: Public Speakers, Authors)
- Leaders in industry
- Business Owners
What: Break it into three parts (Name and title, 1. what you do, 2. why passionate, 3. Interests)
When: Anytime
Where: Website, LinkedIn Page, Email signature
Why:
- Another way to connect with your audience beyond text, photo, audio - assess whether they want to work with you
- Unique
- Professional/Gives you credibility
- Shareable
How to get:
- Film yourself (basic - selfie holding, basic 2.0 - set up on a ledge/prop phone with book, 3.0 - have a stand (best if filming future videos)
- Tip: Film outside/next to a window, make sure no background noises, hold phone horizontal
- Hire a videographer (High quality picture and audio, background layout, lighting, graphics, Do the work (hard to do production and content))
Bonus:
- This exercise forces you to think about what you do concisely - who you are, why you do it/problem solve for your customers
