Welcome to My Northern Roots, a podcast about my experience as a Northern Roots Oldham Community Champion. In this episode I introduce myself, Matt Dean, the Northern Roots project, who’s involved and what it’s all about.
As you’ll hear, it’s a diverse and inclusive project, one dedicated to improving and managing an area of land in the centre of a post industrial heartland.
It’s also a project that, for many of those involved, connects on a deeply personal level, as we explore our heritage, our history and our environment.
In a town where nature gave way to the relentless might of industry, we ask a question first posed by Mary Higgs in 1901…Beautiful Oldham? Why Not?!
