Samuel, prophet of God really dropped the ball when it came to being a Father, trying to establish his morally unfit sons as Judges over Israel. They were so unfit that the people refused to let them rule, asking instead for king. Seeing out kids weaknesses and sin, and helping them to recognize their own, is an important role for Fathers.
