On this episode of the podcast Cody is joined by Steve Rawles and Ryan Mumby who both play in the iconic Canadian punk band Belvedere. The band is set to release its sixth full length album, Hindsight is the Sixth Sense, on May 14th so the three of them talk all about what went into the making of that and some of the unique challenges that had to be overcome to produce the album. They also talk about a wide array of other subject matter including: touring around the world and what its like to have people from different countries sing your songs back to you, using your art to shed a light on inequality while still delivering a message of hope, the access that technology has given us all to the music making process, the value of a good record label, trying to do things that are different from what everybody else is doing, why tattoo artists make good album art, finding comfort in music during these troubling times, learning to go with the flow and play things by ear, the surprising amount of cardio involved when playing on big stages, how the biggest shows aren’t always the best shows, knowing which venues your band should play, and giving it your all every time you play no matter the crowd size.
