On this episode of the podcast Cody is joined by Daniel Pelton, Andrew Leitch, and Joseph Bahhadi and they all play in the YYC based jazz rock band Long Time No Time. The band has just released their forth full length album Tough Times and the four of them chat about the inspiration behind the album as well as the unique way in which it came together. They also touch on a wide variety of other subject matter including: winning a death metal music video award while playing in a band with no guitars, finding creative ways to rip a solo when your instrument breaks, taking advantage of the opportunities that the pandemic has created, going with the flow and rearranging pieces on the fly to put out the best piece possible, experimenting with different recording techniques, being critical of your work while not allowing yourself to become over critical, how the collective emotional state of the band at the time of recording bleeds through into the music, the cathartic nature of the music making process, the difference between a collection of songs and an actual album, achieving the sounds of chaos through maintaining the utmost amounts of order, the way that solos find their way into pieces, fun moments from spending two weeks in studio together, and finding moments of peace among the chaos. You can listen to the song The Realm off of the bands newest album Tough Times at the end of the episode
