“When you make a mistake or when you have a bad workout or a bad race, it’s not the end of the world...it’s just an opportunity to learn and grow. Because if don’t make mistakes or you don’t have bad races you’ll never grow.” ~Shawanna White *** In tenth grade, Shawanna met her high school run coach who immediately saw potential in her. She excelled in the sport in high school and carried that success on to college at University of West Georgia. Shawanna seeks to qualify for the Olympics and Olympic Trials having missed the 2020 qualification by a mere second (1 sec). In the process of seeking qualification, Shawanna realized a career PR in the marathon distance running a 2:45:19, making her the 5th fastest African American (USA Born) Woman in the sport. Shawanna is optimistic, dedicated and seeks to further distance running and education in black communities as a PE/health teacher in South Carolina. ***To follow Shawanna’s journey, follow her on Instagram at @peachrunner26.2 *** If you like what you've heard on the show, please consider contributing to the show.
