Dani Lynn & Flip Robinson worked on cruise ships for about 10 years. Then they both realized they wanted to go into real estate and got their real estate realtors in 2008, at a time when the real estate market crashed. Realizing they need to be more proactive, they decided to get into real estate investing where they have more control over their lives.
When they started, they did 12 different ways to buy and sell real estate and none of those were flips. It wasn't until about probably six or seven years into real estate investing that they did their first flip and also looked to turnkey real estate investing.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
The Importance of Surrounding Yourself with Like-minded People
You can fast track yourself to success if you surround yourself with people who are already doing what you want to do and are exactly where you want to go so then you can learn from them. That way, you don’t have to make the same mistakes they did. Plus, it makes everything fun because you’re all aspiring to do great things.
Building the Culture in Your Company
A dream manager's job is to sit down with each person and ask them what they want, personally, and not just professionally. What do you want on a personal level? Do you want to buy your first house? Do you want to understand finances better? Or do you want to create budgets? Then ask them how you can help them to achieve both their personal and professional goals.
If you have teams from overseas, celebrate their culture as well because you could have totally different lifestyles. Show them and let them know that they matter. Make an effort to connect with them regularly. Hold fun meetings to continue to inspire and motivate them, and do it regularly.
Actionable Steps in Getting into Real Estate Investing
Find the person that has already done it because it's nice to have investors who know both sides of the world. Attach yourself with the right people and learn from their mistakes. Although, the great ones also allow you to make your own mistakes and so you can learn from them.
