Ricky Johnson is a Marine Veteran and North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (with Veteran stamp) and is trained in Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP), Question Persuade Refer (QPR) suicide prevention, and Trauma-Informed Care. In addition, Ricky is certified in Critical Time Intervention and implements this model in his daily work activities. Mr. Johnson was also a mentor with the Buncombe County Veterans Treatment Court team and is a member of the Western North Carolina's Recovery Alliance. Most recently Ricky was awarded the 2019 NC Tides “Empowering Hope Award” for his tenacity, strength, and self-determination in overcoming adversity while inspiring hope and empowering others through their own personal and life journey. In the year 2020, Ricky was appointed by the North Carolina Speaker of the House Tim Moore to the North Carolina CFAC Committee (Consumer and Family Advisory Committee).
