I’m not dead talks to Cara Brophy, Avanti Kumar-Singh and Emily Strauss —three women who’ve faced grief in different ways. Their stories of strength, vulnerability, and courage show how embracing hardship and uncertainty can lead to healing and new possibilities within themselves.

 

Cara Brophy, a self-proclaimed pro at managing chaos. She has endured profound loss—from losing someone she loved in the 9/11 tragedy, to her 1st marriage ending in divorce, the death of her father, and losing her second love and father of her son to cancer. Through midlife crises, career shifts, and endless existential questions, she’s now driven by one thing: seeking and speaking the truth

 

Avanti Kumar- Singh is an internationally recognized Ayurvedic practitioner, certified yoga therapist, and former ER doctor. Her approach brings together Western medicine with the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda that comes from her South Asian lineage. After her unexpected breast cancer diagnosis she took an innovative approach to healing, combining eastern and western medicine. We love Dr. Avanti’s deep commitment to helping people feel better and live longer with her new best selling book, The Longevity Formula. 

 

Emily Strauss took inspiration from her background in Art History and worldly travels to launch her fine jewelry brand, EF Collection. After the devastating loss of her son at just 39 days old she turned her grief into honoring her son with the Angels 4 Austin foundation. This initiative helps families in the NICU feel less alone in an extraordinarily difficult time as well as spreading awareness about PKD Now a mother of a beautiful daughter Emily has spoken so bravely and eloquently about this great loss, and how she has been able to use it to help so many people through personal jewelry that keeps their loved ones close to their hearts.
