Hardships and failures are strangers to no one. We’ve all been knocked down at some point in our lives. As for Lance Essihos, he’s well-acquainted with adversity. He’s battled with drug addiction and alcoholism, lost his brother to suicide, and lost his father to cancer.
When life hits you that hard, the easy way out is to give up, but that’s not the path that Lance chose. He instead swore to himself that he would get his life together and make a positive impact on others. Today, he has surpassed his mission of making the world a better place and continues to empower other people through his podcast, University of Adversity. With his platform, he encourages people to better themselves and achieve long-lasting fulfillment.
Listen to the full episode as Lance shares his tips on shifting your mindset, breaking unhealthy social media habits, rising above adversity, and pursuing your passion.
“My entire life has been around getting that [scarcity mentality] out of my vocabulary because it’s like a sickness; it’s like an illness that gets in our DNA, and it holds us back from so much.”
“It’s not always these big, crazy events that are going to shift [your mindset] for you, but it’s consistently paying attention to how your thoughts and your feelings are.”
“If you’re trying to recreate somebody else, then you’re robbing [your audience] of you.”
“If you put it in [the time] and you’re committed to it and you stay true to your heart and you really get super clear on that, consistency always wins.”
“If you want to do something, just do it. Who cares how many people are doing it? You’re different. You have medicine for somebody. Somebody needs what you have.”
“Failure’s essential. It’s essential to grow. You learn every time. It’s just feedback.”
