Born ready to hustle? The question is – are you happy? Why not bring happiness into your hustle and find that blissful balance in your life.
If you find yourself thinking about your family when you’re at work, and then when you’re with family, you’re thinking about work, unfortunately, there’s an imbalance happening. And it takes awareness and action to finally achieve that blissful balance.
In today’s conversation, Erik Cabral speaks with Cary Jack, a lifestyle entrepreneur, author, and founder of The Happy Hustle. Cary has a truckload of insights to share about building your personal brand, where many people get it wrong, and how you can achieve balance in your personal and professional life while putting on a happy hustle everyday.
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
Building a Personal Brand
Whether you like it or not, everyone has a reputation. Now, Cary defines personal brand as the digitization and the monetization of your reputation with intentionality. Having a personal brand is like a business; you should treat it as such. There will be adversity, and so, you really have to get clear on why you're doing it, and allow that to be the fuel to the fire to proceed past that adversity.
Fear is the number one thing that holds people back. You can reason yourself out for not doing anything. But as personal branding speaker Rory Vaden puts it, "When the mission to serve is clear, there truly is no fear."
Once you get outside of yourself and outside of your own self-limiting beliefs, you get out of your head and more so into your heart – and that's when the magic happens. That's when you can really step into your power.
How to Build Your Personal Brand the Right Way
A lot of personal brands do a lot of the right things, but they do them out of sequence. But you have to do things in the proper sequence with the strategy if you truly want it to scale. Do it in the right order, or else you will end up wasting time, money, and resources. Therefore, you have to get crystal clear on a strategy first and foremost.
Another thing where people could get things twisted is they build a business, and then they try to build a brand underneath their business. Cary recommends doing it the other way, because you could sell your business, but you're never going to sell your name.
The 10 Alignments Framework
There are seasons of life where you're going to push a little harder than others. At the end of the day, balance truly does equal happiness.
You must give equal importance to each of these 10 alignments in your life, which Cary has outlined in his book, The Happy Hustle. SOUL MAPPIN stands for Selfless service, Optimized health, Unplugged digitally, Loving relationships, Mindful spiritually, Abundance financially, Personal development, Passionate hobbies, Impactful work, and Nature connection.
