If you had a way to get out of your W-2 or have that leverage to work full-time from wherever you want, would you do it? Who wouldn’t?
In this conversation, Erik Cabral speaks with the traveling investor, Jon Huber, about how he manages to work full-time while investing and traveling with family – all at the same time. Jon Huber is a real estate investor and fellow member of the growing GoBundance community. Jon is the founder of Coffee with Investors, a virtual coffee house for everything real estate investing.
If you’ve been itching to spread your wings to see what’s out there, then be sure to listen in!
Here are some power takeaways from today’s conversation:
Episode Highlights:
Actionable Steps to a Well-Traveled Life
1. Mindset is everything. Think bigger and see outside of your current world. The world won't open up if you don't open it up for yourself.
2. Find people that are doing what you want to do. That's probably one of the biggest things because you need to find somebody that's doing what you want to do to see if you even that's what you really wanted.
3. Set rituals to set yourself up for success. Have a morning routine to get you started.
4. Create a plan and a budget. Traveling the world takes a lot of budgeting. Find countries where the dollar is strong so you won't have to spend a crazy amount of money just to go to these places.
Tips for Short-Term Rentals
Wanting to shy away from the traditional hotel-type looking short-term rental properties, Jon’s wife decided to take each of their rental properties and make it its own experience.
Think about a Burning Man theme, a Boho-style room, or an Alice in Wonderland-themed room. It’s not only visually enticing to guests, but it also helps you to merge creativity with real estate.
Embracing the F Word
Jon shares his vulnerable side talking about how he missed out on deals due to mismanagement. Wanting to be a one-man show, he thought he could do everything himself. And so, he missed out on a lot of opportunities because everything he did was only limited to his personal knowledge.
Jon took the hard lesson that you need to reach outside of your own self if you truly want to tap into your potential.
