Running became part of her healing journey after being diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) in 2013 and hitting rock bottom both mentally and physically. After completing The Disney Princess Half Marathon in 2019, Kim saw the need to bring more diversity onto the running field and community. Kim is proud of her heritage as a Guatemalan American and was inspired to create Latinas Running.
