The Kaito & Red Show

E46 - Kaito Needed Scottish Sunshine to Play This Game

Disclaimer: Listener discretion is advised for our segment on Tokyo Gore Police. Kaito walks Red through parts of the film and discusses the work of director Yoshihiro Nishimura, which means things get a little gory. With a title like Tokyo Gore Police, you probably saw that coming.

This week on The Kaito and Red Show, we dive into the latest gaming news and video game discussions, including Red's dream of switching to a split keyboard and the painful consequences that followed. We also take a look at 007 First Light, which is finally out and looking phenomenal, discuss reports that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be receiving new DLC more than a decade after its original release, and talk about Valve's latest Steam Deck price increases.

Away from gaming, Kaito introduces Red to the wonderfully bizarre world of Tokyo Gore Police and the legacy of its late director, Yoshihiro Nishimura, leading to one of the stranger conversations we've had on the show.

On the games front, Red checks in with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, while Kaito takes advantage of a rare stretch of Scottish sunshine to play Boktai 2: Solar Boy Django, one of the most unique ideas ever put into a video game. He'll explain why Hideo Kojima's sun-powered Game Boy Advance series remains such a fascinating concept even today.

For this week's Question of the Week, we tackle a listener email comparing Gunpla and Warhammer before discussing collecting as a hobby, why we do it, and whether a collection can eventually become more burden than joy.
