Why Killers Kill?

E6: Ed Gein - The Butcher of Plainfield

Listen Later

Ed Gein — the name that forever changed American horror. Born in 1906 in Wisconsin, Gein’s shocking crimes in the 1950s blurred the line between reality and nightmare. Known as The Butcher of Plainfield, he robbed graves, crafted macabre trophies from human remains, and committed murders that horrified the nation.

His twisted story inspired some of Hollywood’s most iconic villains — Norman Bates (Psycho), Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and Buffalo Bill (The Silence of the Lambs).

In this video, we dive deep into Gein’s life, his disturbing obsessions, and the psychological darkness that made him one of the most haunting figures in criminal history.
