Welcome back to a new season of InvisiYouth Chat Session, we’re in Season 5 and jumping right in with our chat shot-styled podcast with the first of our incredible lineup of special guests. This guy embodies the mindset of the power of sports, it’s two-time Paralympic Sled Hockey Gold Medalist, Jack Wallace.  After a boating accident resulted in Jack having a partial right leg amputation, Jack leaned on his love of sports, specifically ice hockey, to reclaim the passions in his life. He now plays with the US Hockey National Sled Hockey team, national titles and Paralympic medals under his belt, along with training to compete in paracanoe.

1. At 3:30, Jack and Dominique talk about a subject they both relate to and thousands of young people with illness/disability experience: the divide in life with pre and post chronic-illness or disability. Jacks talks about adjusting to life after his accident and how to tackle those ‘what if’ thoughts when we’re adjusting to life with illness/disability. Plus, they give their best tips to tackle when frustration pops up.  
2. At 17:33, it’s all about chronic illness/disability and masculinity and how to break the stigmas surrounding the young guys in this community. Jack opens up about what are some of the masculinity troupes that interfere in guys feeling comfortable to open up and get real about their feelings/emotions. And they talk about the ways young guys can build their confidence, and what’s the top tips to sharpening your community like Jack did with his teammates so you can boost your confidence to confide.
3. Intermission is STORY TIME at 36:43 and Jack gives double the stories about how perhaps it’s a good thing for Team USA Sled Hockey when something goes awry for Jack right before a gold medal game.  
4. And we end the podcast at 43:24 as Jack talks about how he got into adaptive sports, why a place called Camp No Limits thrust him into a world of diverse representation and community, what he’s gained physically and mentally from these two parasports being in his life, and the funny place Jack had his two gold medals during this interview!
