Lake Lanier is an idyllic summer wonderland, complete with water coming from waterfalls of Georgia's Blue Ridge Mountains. The lake hosts millions of visitors every summer who flock there for boating, swimming, camping, hiking, and all around good ole Southern fun. What they don't plan on are the hundreds of boating and water fatalities that occur on the lake. From freak drownings to unexplained boating accidents, and multiple claims of feeling as though swimmers are being drug underneath the water, one thing is for sure- while Lake Lanier looks like a great summer getaway, it's one you're definitely doing at your own risk
