E62: InvisiYouth Chat Sessions with disability advocate, model, YouTuber and popular TikToker Sarah Todd Hammer

Listen Later

When your guest is a multi-hyphenated GenZer who’s just as talented at disability advocacy as they are at TikTok, you know it’s gonna be a good time. Today’s video podcast guest is Sarah Todd Hammer, a 21 year old TikToker, disability advocate, model, author and YouTuber. Diagnosed with Acute Flaccid Myelitis as a child and living with partial paralysis in her arms and hands, Sarah Todd has navigated the world with the mentality of staying positive and continue to enjoy life with her disability. She’s modeled for brands like Zappos Adaptive, has over 1.3 million views on her YouTube channel, and her TikToks reach over 100k views easily!

Here’s the Top Four Takeaways from the podcast:

  1. At 3:33, Sarah Todd and Dominique build out a guidebook filled with tips on making the university/schooling experience the most accessible and enjoyable to your unique health needs. They drop two ways to talk to professors, why broad requests with the help of your doctors get you the most for accommodations, and why the ladies get talking about shower needs and what Dominique calls “BYOB desk chairs” when it comes to getting the most from a dorm room.
  2. At 23:56 it’s about confidence-building, and Sarah Todd shares how her friend group evolution has allowed her to build up her social confidence, what she’s grown more confident sharing, and how self-belief in your self-conscious parts actually helps instill more confidence.
  3. Intermission is STORY TIME 36:48 is actually a quick lesson in access intimacy, so you’ll wanna learn this definition from Sarah Todd’s life experiences with friends.
  4. And we end the podcast at 41:03 talking all things TikTok! You’ll learn how Sarah Todd’s viral TikTok about door handles is a phenomena worthy of 9 million+ views, advice on handling negative comments and how to plan your content versus fit the mold, or post for enjoyment and not likes.
