Lenore Skenazy is an American writer and journalist who became known as “America’s Worst Mom” after she let her nine-year-old take the New York City subway alone back in 2008. That moment blew up into a huge debate about how much independence kids should have versus how overprotective we’ve become. Since then, she’s been a leading voice behind the Free-Range Parenting movement, founding Free-Range Kids and the nonprofit Let Grow. Her whole philosophy is about raising resilient, capable kids by giving them more freedom and responsibility, pushing back against fear-driven parenting. She’s also the author of Free-Range Kids: How to Raise Safe, Self-Reliant Children.
