E92 BH Alabama Clemson Game Instant Reaction as Bama wins 90-84 Hoops Instant Reaction Bama wins over Clemson 90 to 84. Tale of two halves once again Bama led 45-30 in first half, but got outscored 54-45 in 2nd half, but hung on to win by 6. Clemson actually came all the way back with 2.41 left in the game to take an 83-81. But then Bama went on a 9 to 1 run to close out the game and win 90-84. LaBaron took over at that point as he made a 3 pt play the old fashioned way by scoring two and getting fouled and making the FT to give Bama an 84-83 lead. Then he made another midrange shot to give Bama an 86-83 lead with 2 mins left. The Bama clamped down on defense and closed Clemson out 90-84. The Stats Bama was outrebounded 43-39 Bama had 9 TO’s to 7 for Clemson Clemson outscored Bama 50-32 in the paint Bama had a 19 pt lead in the first half, and then let Clemson take a 2 pt lead late in the 2nd half. Clemson started out very cold from the field and from 3 as Bama built a 19 pt lead. Then Bama could not sustain that effort and let Clemson back in the game. Clemson did start shooting the ball better and taking the ball inside, but Bama also didn’t maintain its intensity in the 2nd half until the last 3 minutes of the game. Highlights LaBaron Philon’s had another great game with 29 pts. He was able to get points for Bama whenever needed and scored from all three levels and hit clutch shots at the end to preserve the win for Bama. Amari Allen had 20 pts, 11 rebs, 4 assists, and 1 block London Jemison had a strong game with 13 pts, 2 rebs, and 2 steals TBB has 11 pts, 5 rebs, 3 assists, and 2 blocks Houston Mallette had 10 pts, 3 rebs, and 1 steal Aiden Sherrell had 5 pts, 10 rebs, and 8 blocks Jalil Bethea played 6 mins and scored 2 pts, had 3 rebs, and 2 assists in just 6 mins. Great to see him play even if only in limited minutes Alabama finishing on a 9-1 run to win 90-84 after trailing 83-81 with less than 3 mins to go in the game. How Clutch Philon was when needed. Issues Aden Holloway sat out with an injured wrist Wrightsell sat out with a leg injury Bristow sat out with an ankle injury Noah Williamson is still not an impact player. He seems slow and plodding. And Just not effective on either ends of the court. So far, he was a miss as a portal recruit and doesn’t fit Oates’s style and doesn’t seem to be able to play against SEC-calibre competition. I am hoping he will come on, get better, and be able to contribute, but so far he is not helping the cause. Points in the paint as Clemson had 50 to 32 for Bama Giving up a 19 pt lead to let Clemson take a 2 pt lead with 3 minutes to go in the game. Rebounding – outrebounded by 4 Clemson’s bigs outplayed our bigs particularly in the 2nd half. Not having Bristow hurt Bama. Figuring out the right starting lineup and the right closing lineup Alabama is now 6-2 on the season. Next up for Bama is a game against UTSA on Sunday, Dec 7 at 1 pm.
