Each One Will Give an Account
“So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.” — Romans 14:12.
We live in a time when it’s easy to follow the crowd — trends, opinions, what everyone else is doing. But this verse reminds us of something serious: one day, each of us will stand alone before God and give an account of our own life.
This is a powerful reminder for every young Christian: spiritual responsibility is personal. You won’t be judged based on what your friends did, what your family believed, or what was popular in your circle. God will look at your heart, your choices, and your actions.
But here’s the thing: just having a clear conscience isn’t enough. It’s easy to think, “If I feel okay about it, then it must be fine.” But our conscience can be influenced — by emotions, pressure, or even selfish desires. That’s why everything we do must be tested and confirmed by God’s Word. The Bible is our foundation. It’s not enough to feel right — we need to be right in God’s eyes.
Paul also warns us not to judge others over disputable or minor matters — like music, clothing, food, or special days. As young believers, we’re tempted to make our personal preferences the standard of truth. But instead of criticizing others, we’re called to live with gratitude and recognize God as the giver of every good thing.
Today’s Application
- Before you act, ask yourself: “Does this please God, or just me?”
- When you see someone doing things differently, avoid judging. Choose love and understanding.
- If something feels doubtful, pause, pray, and check God’s Word.
- Remember: what feels right to me must be confirmed by Scripture to truly be right.
Prayer:
Lord God, Help me remember that I am personally accountable to You. Teach me not just to follow my conscience, but to shape it through Your Word. Give me humility to avoid judging others in minor matters, and a thankful heart to recognize all Your blessings. In Jesus’ name, amen.
