Jon Schwartz is an adjunct professor in the Tisch Institute for Global Sport at New York University (NYU). He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at night since 2016 and has mentored students from all over the world –helping them make the transition to the work force.

Prior to teaching at NYU, Schwartz was most recently senior vice president, communications, marketing, digital and social for the 127-year-old Big Ten Conference – reporting directly to the Commissioner – with accountability to the Chancellors, Presidents, and Athletic Directors of all the conference’s member institutions. He oversaw a team of communications, brand, digital/social media professionals responsible for the reputation the Big Ten. Jon gives a masterclass on conference realignment from the lens of a practitioner connected to NCAA sports.


Prior to joining the Big Ten Conference, Schwartz served as senior vice president – communications and public affairs at the National Football League, where he led the League’s strategic communications efforts – including executive and internal communications.
