Today on Sojourner Truth:
We speak with members of Clergy4Black lives who give their response to the implications for their congregations and wider communities of the armed and violent attack on the US Capitol on January 6th, as well as the threat of more violence at state capitols by Trump supporters including a wide swathe of white supremacists, Christian nationalists and even members of law enforcement and the US military. We will also speak about the lack of response by LA City and County elected officials to which then allowed COVID-19 super-spreader events led by Christian nationalist Sean Feucht to take place in vulnerable communities, and also how they will mark MLK weekend. Our guests are: Rev Dr. Najuma Smith Pollard and Rev. Kelvin Sauls.
Also, the former First Lady of Haiti Mildred Aristide joins us to speak about the work of the University of the Aristide Foundation known as UNIFA, the hospital project being planned for the campus and her thoughts as Haiti just marked the 11th anniversary of the devastating earthquake that took place on January 12th 2010. Madame Aristide is on the Board of Governors of UNIFA.
For our weekly Earth Watch, Indigenous campaigner (Naaweiya) is our guest to discuss the threat to the Tongass National Forest, which is the largest intact temperate rainforest remaining on the planet.
