In traditional churches Easter is treated as a time of certain religious exercises, that can be really futile. In some other kinds of churches it is observed as a period of some pomp and pageantry. In the secular world it is treated as a time of free holiday and overindulgence in chocolates and other empty celebrations.  

The Easter message is about God and His mercy and grace on a sinful world, and anyone who misses the message stands condemned already, but the one who embraces it will receive forgiveness and salvation.
