When Jesus met Thomas in his doubt, he didn’t reject him because of it. There’s no shame to be heaped upon Thomas because he was a holdout. After Jesus tells Thomas to touch his hands and side to give him the empirical proof he is desperate for, Jesus says to him: 

"Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
