The Easter story centers on two faithful women who walked to Jesus' tomb at dawn, carrying spices to honor their beloved friend who had been crucified. These women, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the wife of Clopas, had witnessed the unimaginable trauma of watching the promised Messiah treated like a common criminal, beaten, mocked, and crucified. Unlike many disciples who fled in fear, they stayed until the end and now came to properly care for His body. What they discovered changed everything. The angel delivered the most important message in human history: Jesus is not here because He has risen, exactly as He had promised.
