Welcome to Season 2 of Easy Pills to Swallow! We are back and better than ever as resident pharmacists! This episode we take some time to catch up with one another, talk about how graduation impacted us, how we navigated the licensure process in our respective states, and what the first 3 months of residency has looked like for us. This will be a year of great adventures and learning and we have been loving it thus far! Here's to our Rph era!!

Konner with a K!!! You know him, you love him, you've only heard his name 800 million times on this podcast. Lexi's boyfriend joins us this week to talk about all things relationships when it comes to dating someone in pharmacy school, particularly when they are moving every 5 weeks on rotations. Konner also went to visit Lexi at most of her sites so he got to experience a little bit of the adventures! Listen in to hear about the struggles, the triumphs, and the times in-between. Thank you Konner, from the bottom of our hearts for everything - you are so loved.

After 11 months, we have successfully completed 8 rotations and only have one more until graduation! This episode we talk about our experiences at our acute care core in Alaska for Lexi and community core in Minnesota for Peyton. There are so many things we loved about this rotation but still things we learned and grew from as well. Lexi is making soup during this rotation so you also can come along through that adventure. There's a fun little moment at the end regarding this 5k we have been training for as well...

Iris joins us for this podcast to talk about the residency match process and reflecting on the journey now that we are on the other side of match day. We all matched to our top programs and are so excited to become residents this coming year!! There was a lot of time and energy that went into applying, interviewing, and anxiously waiting, but we made it through and would love to share what we learned throughout all of this.

He has been mentioned in this podcast at least 4 separate times so we thought it necessary to bring him on for his own! Dr. Wrenn joins us for an episode to talk about his journey as a neuropharmacologist, how he ended up at Drake, and what he loves most about being a professor. Dr. Wrenn has made such a positive impact on so many students and we felt honored he decided to come on the pod!

Annika is a 2023 Drake grad who is a current PGY1 resident in San Jose, CA. Both of us have always looked up to Annika throughout pharmacy school and are so thankful she came into our lives. Annika tells us about her journey through pharmacy school and what her current residency looks like right now and all that she has learned along the way. Thank you for your honesty and insight and of course the laughs.

Also, a shoutout to Konner for helping Lexi fix her storage issue on her laptop. He truly saved the day.

Courtney and Caitlin are the backbone of our class, the main reason we all became so close with one another and cohesive as a group. They are two individuals who worked so hard during pharmacy school to make sure that we all remembered to enjoy the journey and make memories while also grinding in our studies. They are the founding fathers of trivia nights, party buses, and overall camaraderie of our 77 classmates. We are so appreciative of these two for taking the initiative to bring us all together during a time when we were so isolated from one another. Yet another fun episode with a dynamic duo. Thank you, Courtney and Caitlin, for all you have done and continue to do for our class.

Allyssa with two L's, two S's, Y in the middle, and A's on the end joins us today to talk about her role as the compliance coordinator for the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Drake University. Lexi got to work with her for two years in the Cline office where they became fast friends and bonded over their love of brussels sprouts. We absolutely love Allyssa and are so thankful for all that she has done for us the past 2.5 years at Drake. We are also taking suggestions for girl baby names for her soon-to-be baby! Allyssa, we love you, thank you for keeping CPHS afloat (even in the midst of a flood...).

I cannot believe that we have fully completed 6 rotation blocks, AND it's the year we graduate. Time really does fly when you're having fun. This episode, we talk about our experiences at our block 6 sites which were Iowa Methodist Medical Center with the trauma surgery team for Lexi and Primary Healthcare diabetes elective for Peyton. We learned so much during this block and both had wonderful experiences with our faculty. Plus, there's a bonus story for anyone who makes it to the end :)

It's the Midyear episode! Iris, Peyton, and Lexi all attended ASHP Midyear from Dec. 3-5th in Anaheim, CA. The conference was a whirlwind of events and emotions and we documented it all both throughout the time we were there as well as reflecting on it afterwards. We give tips and tricks, what we enjoyed most, and how we feel the the conference benefited us moving forward. We had a wonderful time and please feel free to reach out with any questions!
