The history of the world is full of fatal love stories, from Romeo and Juliet to the Lovers of Teruel in Spain. In Ecuador there is a love story that is over 6000 years old: los Amantes de Sumpa. This is the popular name given to the skeleton remains of a young couple who died, apparently, making love. The couple lived over 6000 years ago, and their position suggests that they died in a loving embrace. However, most of their history is still shrouded in mystery.
