Lawrence was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Grew up in Toronto. First time he came across Montreal when he was at the age of college. Chose McMaster university over Mcgill university which he regretted. Second time he was working in Montreal in 1990s. Third time, he is living in Montreal for long term.
