One of the major concerns present in a good chunk of the New Testament has to do with food. Why? It seems trivial. Why would the New Testament writers take so much time to address the issue of what to eat and how to eat it? 

The answer is, at least partially, because of what food represented in the Roman world. Food was often associated with sacrifice, with worship, and, more generally, with culture. 

The church was expanding. It was becoming a movement of Jew and Gentile, slave and free, Hebrew-speaking and Greek-speaking.

What is Paul's major concern (specifically in 1 Corinthians and Acts)? That they eat together. Bonds are formed when we eat together.

Since the beginning, the Church has come to the communion table as a diverse people, from different backgrounds and experiences. What might it mean for us to consider these other experiences in Christian life? To eat with those who are different from us? Join us as we explore this question.
