In this episode, we find out why so much of Isaac's life sounds just like Abraham's: (1) Both go through famine; (2) Both live in the land of Abimelech; (3) both lie about their relationship to their wife because they worry about her being taken because of her beauty; (4) both dig wells (the son even re-digs the ones the father dug before); (5) both make covenants to keep peace with kings nearby; (6) both covenants are made at the same place--Beersheba--a generation apart. All of this is actually pointing to Jesus, the Son who does only what he sees his Father doing (John 5:19).
