A lowly Jew is about to be put over all of the king's previous governors.  Naturally they are jealous and cannot accept this "demotion" without a fight. They must trump up charges if they wish to get rid of Daniel, however, because he is so righteous.  Their plot against him works and he is thrown into a hole in the ground never to be seen again. But then the unexpected happens the next morning...
